Just more deceit and deception…..

Citizens beware: AOC green agenda infiltrating state legislatures and being passed.

While you’re distracted by ‘racist cauliflower,’ stealth AOC ‘Green New Deal’ laws are being passed at state level

Daniel Turner, executive director of Power The Future, a national nonprofit group that advocates for U.S. energy jobs, warned we are being distracted by the antics of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., as state legislatures are hard at work passing laws similar to the Bronx freshman’s radical Green New Deal.

“Americans need to beware,” Turner warned in a Fox News op-ed. “What happened in New Mexico will happen in every state.  Eco-groups prefer working in the shadows.

While that may be expected in hard-left states like New York, it recently happened in New Mexico with the passage of the Energy Transition Act — a bill that will phase out fossil fuels completely, doubling renewable energy use in the state by 2025, requiring 50% renewable energy by 2030 and 100% carbon-free electricity generation by 2045, according to the NRDC.

Ultimately, this is the exact same goal as the Green New Deal.

Turner said that environmental groups have developed a strategy of passing radical climate change bills state by state.

“It’s a smart tactic. They get friendly, left-leaning state legislators and governors, most of whom they financially backed in the past election, to do their dirty work,” he said. “While the media is watching AOC marveling over garbage disposals and rejecting the racism of cauliflower, no one is reporting about bad laws taking shape in secret.”

In addition to looking to eliminate cow farts and phase out airplanes, Ocasio-Cortez informed the nation recently that if you plant cauliflower, you’re likely a closet white supremacist oppressing minorities.

While growing plants is a “core component of the Green New Deal,” according to AOC, she cautions urban farmers to stay away from cauliflower or they may be perceived as “taking a colonial approach to environmentalism.”

Turner called the New Mexico law “destructive,” saying that it “essentially a hidden carbon tax and will threaten the jobs of thousands of energy workers, raise utility rates, cut state revenue, and make green energy companies rich at the taxpayers’ expense.”

“Green groups have effectively rebranded ‘carbon tax’ as ‘renewable energy mandates’ and to get the same results: the end of fossil fuels,” he said.

As for utility rates, Republican state Rep. Larry R. Scott pointed to California as an example of what awaits New Mexico.

“California is the closest state to provide a comparison, as it some time ago adopted a similarly aggressive RPS. The United States Energy Information Agency reports that, over the last 15 years, California’s average retail price of electricity has doubled,” the lawmaker wrote in an op-ed run in the Albuquerque Journal.

Turner said his organization assisted the Associated Press in looking at what groups were involved in the drafting of their “Energy Transition Act.”

More from the op-ed on the results:

What we found was disturbing. The emails revealed how the state’s energy secretary, Sarah Cottrell Propst, encouraged multiple eco-groups review the bill’s language as it was being written. In one instance, she allowed the group who employed her just months before, a renewable energy trade group called Interwest, to influence the bill.

Interwest makes money from renewable energy companies, the very companies now guaranteed to control the state’s energy industry by the bill they themselves wrote.

My organization believes green groups don’t care about the earth, the environment, or even climate change.  They care about power.  And that is the case in New Mexico.  Under the guise of fighting “for the earth” they passed a law guaranteeing income for green energy companies.

There are few who oppose renewable energy, as long as it competes fairly on the free market and the needs of those involved in the oil, gas and coal industries are part of the discussion, he posited.

“If politicians like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez get their way, it will be government bureaucrats and environmental activists – not the market, not the people – deciding energy policy,” Turner cautioned.

“Some people will get very rich if the ‘Green New Deal’ were to become law,” he concluded. “We should all be curious who those people are. And which politicians they financially back.”
